Before that, depending on the year, there was the Chevelle 300, Chevelle 300 Deluxe, Malibu, Maliub SS, SS396, etc. and all are in the 'Chevelle' family. 1970 saw the entry level model go from the Chevelle 300 Deluxe to the Chevelle ...Also the interior panels/seat covers are different, along with the dash. 68 have the ignition in the dash along with rectangular gauge pods. 69 have round gauge pods with ignition on the column. The bezels from original SS cars & from original Malibu cars are almost completely different pieces. The SS strips are chromed plated plastic. The Malibu versions are two pieces, an aluminum bezel with a thin steel insert with a woodgrain applique.Look at where the hole are for the mounting screws. They are quite a bit different. The 67 only has two holes on the bottom for mounting and the 68 has three.
