The temp gauge was completely dead - showing no temp. I replaced the the coolant temp sensor and verified electrical continuity on the harness wires and the attached connector contacts that mates to the sensor.Bubbling indicates rising air pressure in the cooling system, which is a sign that the flow of liquid is blocked by a pocket of air.
