It has been a while but I believe there is a safety feature built into the trigger of the 738. When the slide goes back it brings the hammer to half cock. This prevents the hammer from engaging the firing pin if the 738 is dropped and is essentially a firing pin block.S&W Bodyguard .380 vs Taurus TCP.
