One of the stator leads should have a diode after it comes out of the tinwork and usually right before a connector that mates with the tractor harness. Wire with diode goes to the battery. No need to remove the pto pulley. Remove the 2 bolts holding the brake pad on. Then the belt will come off. To put the brake back on apply the pto.
